Glucofit dragons review – are the capsules a real Ozempic alternative!

Glucofit contains a special active ingredient that has been celebrated for some time on Tik Tok as a herbal alternative to the weight loss injections Ozempic and Wegovy.

Can that really be true?

I checked whether this is actually true using scientific facts and analyzed the effects of Glucofit in detail.

Celebrity hype and scientific breakthrough

It all began in 2001.

Elon Musk caused a worldwide stir this year with a tweet about his incredible weight loss thanks to the diabetes drug Semaglutide.

Wegovy, Ozempic and Mounjaro – these names of weight loss injections that promised weight loss of up to 20 percent and more by injection were rife in the media from that point on.

The active ingredients in these injections were originally approved for the treatment of diabetes.

They work by stimulating the release of the hormone GLP-1. GLP-1 inhibits appetite and promotes satiety, which leads to reduced calorie intake and associated weight loss.

Studies prove effectiveness

In clinical studies, the weight loss injections were able to keep their promise. Participants lost an average of 10 to 15 percent of their body weight. In addition to weight loss, improvements in blood sugar levels and blood lipid levels were also seen.

Since then, diabetes medications such as metformin have also become the focus of the weight loss industry.

Glucofit is not just a diabetes medication, however. Glucofit was developed specifically for weight loss. However, great attention was paid to lowering blood sugar levels when it came to its composition.

I ordered Glucofit myself to test these capsules with some people I know.

I also analyzed the ingredients of Glucofit using scientific studies to find out whether Glucofit can actually lead to weight loss and how exactly it all works.

According to the manufacturer, Glucofit should work as follows:

To check whether all of this is actually true, we first have to take a closer look at the ingredients of Glucofit.

Glucofit ingredients – this is what’s in the capsules

I’ll start with the most interesting ingredient in Gucofit, namely berberine.

Is berberine the herbal semaglutide?

Thanks to a Tik Tok trend, berberine is being celebrated as a natural ozempic. Berberine is said to be thenew ultimate miracle cure for losing weight.

What is berberine?

Berberine is a natural alkaloid found in various plants, most commonly in the barberry (Berberis vulgaris), from which it takes its name

Algirdas at lt.wikipedia, Public domain, via Wikimedia Common

Berberine has a long history in traditional Chinese medicine as it has anti-inflammatory properties and is also used for gastrointestinal complaints, liver diseases and viral infections, among other things.

How can you lose weight with berberine?

Berberine can increase insulin sensitivity, which lowers blood sugar levels and prevents cravings.

Berberine is also said to inhibit the formation of fat cells and reduce fat synthesis.

Due to its positive effects on the intestines
microbiome Berberine also contributes to weight control.

And how exactly is that supposed to work?

Berberine activates the AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK).

AMPK the energy switch that promotes fat burning and is supposed to prolong life

You’ve probably never heard of AMPK. Then it’s time to take a closer look at this enzyme.

AMPK is a central enzyme that acts as an energy sensor in cells. When AMPK is activated, it promotes catabolic processes (including fat breakdown) and inhibits anabolic (building) processes as follows.

Inhibition of lipogenesis

Lipogenesis is the process of new fat formation in the cells.

AMPK inhibits the activity of enzymes such as acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACC) and fatty acid synthase (FAS), which are necessary for the synthesis of fatty acids.

By inhibiting these enzymes, the production of new fatty acids is reduced.

Increasing β-oxidation

β-oxidation is the process by which fatty acids are broken down in the mitochondria to produce energy.

AMPK activates enzymes that promote β-oxidation, such as carnitine palmitoyltransferase 1 (CPT1), which facilitates the transport of fatty acids into the mitochondria.

Regulation of glycogen and glucose metabolism

AMPK increases the uptake of glucose into cells and promotes glycogenolysis (breakdown of glycogen to glucose), which lowers blood sugar levels and increases the availability of glucose for energy metabolism instead of converting it into fat.

AMPK the “miracle molecule” is even said to prolong life

Studies on model organisms such as yeast, worms, flies and mice have shown that activation of AMPK can lead to an extended lifespan and improved health in old age (1).

AMPK stimulates autophagy, a process in which cells break down and recycle damaged or unnecessary cell components. This contributes to cellular health and can delay aging by reducing the accumulation of cellular waste.

AMPK also improves energy metabolism and supports mitochondrial function, allowing cells to work more efficiently and healthily. It also reduces chronic inflammation.

The diabetes drug metformin also increases AMPK. Since there are also reports of successful weight loss with metformin, the drug is often misused and is now used for weight loss, which I do not support.

Scientific studies with berberine

There is a study in which berberine actually led to weight loss in the test subjects.

What I find more remarkable about this study, however, is that the total cholesterol level of the study participants decreased by an average of 12% and the triglyceride concentration by 23% (2).

Triglycerol levels refer to the amount of triglycerides in the blood. Triglycerides are a type of fat (lipid) found in the blood. When you eat, your body converts the calories it doesn’t need immediately into triglycerides and stores them in fat cells. Later, these triglycerides are released by hormones to provide energy between meals.

Elevated triglycerides are a risk factor for cardiovascular disease, such as heart attack and stroke. They can also lead to fatty liver disease.

The other natural ingredients in Glucofit are also strongly aimed at lowering blood sugar levels in order to promote weight loss.
Cinnamon is also considered a“fat killer”, as the spice switches the metabolism to fat burning due to its blood sugar-lowering effect and at the same time has an appetite-suppressing effect.

The daily intake of just one gram of cinnamon was able to lower the blood sugar levels of participants in a study by up to29 percent. In contrast, the placebo group showed no significant changes. Another positive effect of taking cinnamon powder was a reduction in total cholesterol by 12 to 26 percent, blood lipids by 23 to 30 percent and LDL cholesterol by 7 to 27 percent.

DBP: diastolic blood pressure; FBG: fasting blood sugar; HDL-C: high-density lipoprotein cholesterol; SBP: systolic blood pressure; WC: waist circumference; TG: serum triglyceride.

Glucofit and intestinal health

The manufacturer of Glucofit has also specifically selected the ingredients based on another aspect that is often underestimated when losing weight.

Berberine, fenugreek and red yeast extract have a positive influence on the intestinal microbiome.

Studies with berberine in particular have shown that it can change the composition of the intestinal microbiome in various ways by promoting beneficial bacteria and inhibiting the population of harmful, disease-causing bacteria.

The active ingredients in Glucofit also have a major influence on a very special intestinal bacterium with a complicated name.

Akkermansia muciniphila – the secret fat-burning bacterium

This bacterium was only discovered at the beginning of the 2000s and immediately caused a great stir.

Akkermansia muciniphila can stimulate the production of short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs).

SCFA (short chain fatty acids): acetate, propionate and butyrate

Akkermansia muciniphila is one of the most important bacteria that produce propionate. It can break down complex carbohydrates such as mucin that cannot be used by other intestinal bacteria and convert them into propionate.

And propionate is particularly interesting.

Propionate can influence hormones and enzymes that regulate fat burning and storage.

Propionate also increases the feeling of satiety by stimulating the secretion of the neuropeptides Peptide YY and Glucagon-like Peptide-1 (GLP-1).

Speaking of GLP-1. Now we’re back to the weight loss injections, which also function as GLP-1 agonists.

PYY is, by the way, one of the strongest appetite-suppressing hormones. It sends signals to the brain to cause satiety and a reduced feeling of hunger.

Health benefits of short-chain fatty acids:

But our intestinal flora doesn’t just play an important role in losing weight. Short-chain fatty acids, such as butyrate and the like, also make a major contribution to our health.

Short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) are important nutrients for our intestines and support the formation of a strong intestinal wall that keeps out harmful substances and pathogens.

SCFAs counteract inflammation in the intestines and strengthen the immune system.

Butyrate is also proving to be an extremely fascinating substance, among other things due to its anti-inflammatory properties on microglia cells. Studies also suggest that it can improve memory, at least in mice,” explains Professor Rodney Johnson, who led the research and whose work was published in the journal Frontiers in Immunology (3).

Microglia: The Guardians of the Brain

Microglia are specialized cells found in the central nervous system (CNS) and play an important role in the immune defense and maintaining brain health. They make up about 10-15% of all glial cells and are distributed throughout the brain and spinal cord.

Glucofit side effects – is Glucofit harmful?

No, on the contrary. Berberine in particular is considered extremely healthy due to its anti-inflammatory and cholesterol-lowering properties.

There is even evidence that berberine can reduce acne.

The other ingredients in Glucofit also have a positive effect on the intestinal flora.

However, nutritional supplements containing berberine should not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Is Glucofit or comparable products available at dm or Rossmann?

No, I haven’t found any products with berberine at dm or Rossmann yet.

Glucofit isn’t available in pharmacies yet either, but that may change soon.

Where can you buy Glucofit?

You can currently only buy the original Glucofit capsules online directly from the manufacturer’s website.

I advise against offers on eBay or Amazon, as there are a lot of counterfeits and fakes sold there, especially in the food supplements sector.

These can not only be ineffective but also dangerous. Many of these counterfeits contain synephrine and caffeine, which is a dangerous mixture that can even lead to cardiovascular problems.

Glucofit experiences – reviews

I testedGlucofit with 3 other people over a period of 4 weeks and we were all very surprised by the increased feeling of satiety. So far I have only been able to achieve such a strong effect with exogenous ketones and my personal favorite, the collagen powder against cellulite.

Of course, a test with such a small group of people is not meaningful and every organism reacts differently to such substances.

I would be very happy if you would send me your experience reports via the comment function or by email, which I will then publish here.

Glucofit has only been on the market in Germany for a few months, which is why there are no real experience reports on the Internet yet.

In Great Britain, however, Glucoslim has been around for a while and that is why I took a look at the reviews on Trustpilot UK about Glucoslim.

The reviews on Trustpilot were extremely positive.

Glucoslim review – criticism

My review of Glucoslim is very positive.

Since the hype about diabetes medication, I have been looking very closely at the effect of blood sugar lowering drugs on weight loss for some time now, and obesity research has also discovered the potential.

I think it’s very good that the manufacturer has combined berberine with other effective ingredients to achieve a synergistic effect.

The positive effect on the intestinal microbiome should not be underestimated either. We now know how enormously important the colonization of the intestinal flora is for our health and our metabolism.

Studies have shown that overweight people have a different composition of intestinal flora than slim people. In overweight people, the proportion of “fat-making bacteria” (e.g. Firmicutes) is often higher, while the proportion of “slimming bacteria” (e.g. Bacteroidetes) is lower.

The intestinal flora can influence our appetite and hunger through the production of hormones and messenger substances. Certain bacteria can, for example, promote the production of appetite-stimulating hormones, while others inhibit the production of satiety hormones.

These bacteria also have an influence on the intestinal hormone GLP-1, the stimulation of which is all the rage thanks to the new weight-loss injections.

If you are looking for a herbal alternative to Ozempic and Wegovy, you can try Glucofit.

However, Glucofit cannot be compared with weight loss injections, as these directly stimulate GLP-1 and Glucfit primarily activates AMPK and only has an indirect effect on the intestinal hormone GLP-1.

Even though more research is needed, I find berberine and the combination of active ingredients in Glucofit very promising.
